ABOUT
Mock Orange have been writing and preforming music for more than a decade. Four friends based in Evansville Indiana, Ryan Grisham (vocals, guitar), Joe Asher (guitar), Zach Grace (bass) and Heath Metzger (drums) have toured throughout the United States, Europe and Japan. In 1998, Lobster Record released the band's first proper record, "Nines & Sixes." The debut received critical acclaim, heavy airplay on college radio and charted top 60 in CMJ. "The Record Play," their second release, arrived in 2000. This album was recorded with Mark Trombino (Blink 182, Jimmy Eat World). Once again, critics took notice and solidified their reputation in the indie music community. Mock Orange expanded their sound in 2002 with the release of "First EP" on Dead Droid Records. Shortly after this release, the label was sued by George Lucas for copyright infringment. A big creative step forward, these five songs were recorded with J. Robbins (Jets To Brazil, Dismemberment Plan) at the famed Inner Ear Studios. This collaberation and musical evolution continued with the release of "Mind Is Not Brain" on Silverthree Sound Recordings in 2004. With much more experience and touring under their belt, this album exhibited a much more sophisticated direction for the band. Also that year, Mock Orange preformed live on MTV2's Dew Circuit Breakout. "Daniels EP," a Japanese only release, was recorded in 2006. It debuted at #1 on the Tower Records Japan indie chart. This split EP gave the band an opportunity to release some material with their long time tour mates The Band Apart. Mock Orange have shared the stage with many notable acts such as Superdrag, the Refused, Hot Water Music, Ted Leo, No Knife, NOFX, Cursive, and Hey Mercedes. While supporting the release of "Mind Is Not Brain," they joined the Braid reunion tour with Murder By Death and Minus The Bear. Mock Orange music has also been featured on several television shows over the last few years; CSI Miami, Viva La Bam, MTV's Real World, ESPN 2 and FOX Sports to name a few. The band is currently in the studio working on their next release. This summer they will also be included on a compilation CD of kids songs recorded by indie bands. |
